PROJECT BEACON – LINE OF SIGHT TO 2026 NATIONAL CAMPAIGN

GBR and BHA provided a presentation on Project Beacon.

REGULATION AND INTEGRITY 2026 APPLICATION

The Board agreed to provide Raceday Services Grants of £20.1m in 2026.

CHAMPIONS FULL GALLOP SERIES 3: POTENTIAL FUNDING AND TIMING

The Board agreed to consider a proposal for the potential funding of a Champions Full Gallop Series 3 when more information was available on series 2 performance.

VETERINARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (VAC) SIX-MONTHLY REVIEW OF GRANTS AND OUTCOMES

The Board received an update on Equine Scientific Research and Education Grants awarded by the Board.

The Board approved the appointment of the BHA Director of Equine Health and Welfare, James Given, to the VAC in an observer capacity.

GOOD GOVERNANCE INSTITUTE NON-STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS

The Board received an update on the Organisational Effectiveness Review: GGI Recommendations (Non-Staffing).

PRIZE MONEY 2025 CURRENT PROJECTIONS

The Board noted an expected underspend for 2025 largely due to abandonments and considered that this should be factored in when calculating prize money going forward to avoid any underspend.

2026 FIXTURE AND FUNDING

The Board considered the Aims, KPIs and Targets for Prize Money Funding in 2026.

NON-FIXTURE GRANT APPLICATIONS UPDDATE

The Board received an update on Non-Fixture Grant Applications, including a summary of the 2026 NFG Applications received.

CAPITAL CREDITS APPLICATIONS: LEICESTER AND SALISBURY

The Board approved a Capital Credits Grant to Leicester of £25,818.78 towards the cost of flooding defences.

The Board approved a Capital Credits Grant to Salisbury of £284,878.37 towards funding the Weighing Room improvements project.

MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTS

The Board approved the management accounts to 30 June 2025 and to 31 July 2025.

PROFESSOR SANDY LOVE

The Board noted with sadness the passing of Professor Sandy Love, past Chair of the VAC, acknowledging the effort and support he had provided to HBLB, and formally recorded its thanks for all that he had done in this capacity.
