Levy Board Announces Creation of Tristram Ricketts Fellowship

The Levy Board today announced the creation of the Tristram Ricketts Fellowship in memory of Sir Tristram Ricketts, former Chief Executive, who died in November 2007.

The Tristram Ricketts Fellowship will enable an individual from within UK horseracing to acquire knowledge and experience at home and/or preferably abroad and, in the process, gain a better understanding of the wider aspects of the sport.

One Fellowship will be awarded each year to the individual who presents the best project to the Tristram Ricketts Fellowship Board for the benefit of UK horseracing. Funding of up to £10,000 will be awarded to the successful Fellow by the Levy Board in order to achieve the aims of the chosen project. Following completion the Fellow will be required to present a report to the Fellowship Board.

Applications for the 2009 Tristram Ricketts Fellowship close on 1st November this year and full details of the application process are available on the Levy Board website (www.hblb.org.uk) and will be distributed to all key industry bodies.

Robert Hughes, the Chairman of the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) said today:

“I am delighted that the Board has agreed to this wonderful concept. Tristram was a good friend and his wit, charm and intelligence are greatly missed. His capacity for friendship was inexhaustible, not only within Britain but all over the Racing world, and I believe the Fellowship will be a lasting legacy to his outstanding contribution to Racing”.
