Following the Levy Board's meeting on 19th September 2007, Chairman Robert Hughes stated that "every possible step is being taken to bring to a conclusion, as soon as possible, the transfer process of the National Stud to the Jockey Club with a target date of 31st October 2007."
He commented, "Inevitably, it has been a somewhat drawn out process and a difficult time for the Stud and its staff. They have done an excellent job in maintaining the Stud's daily activities and carrying on with business as usual."
The Senior Steward of the Jockey Club, Julian Richmond-Watson, commented :
"We are very grateful for the support of the Levy Board and we look forward to the completion of the transfer. Under the umbrella of the Jockey Club, the National Stud will continue to offer a range of services to the breeding industry, including the standing of its stallions in 2008."
